I found Kilborn's latest to be an intense read that kept me up later than normal for a couple of nights. I would hesitate to categorize this novel as horror as much as a thriller. Once you get past the first 20-30 pages when you really don't know why everyone should be AFRAID the book turns into more of a gruesome battle for the lives of the main characters. There is a tremendous amount of explicitly described maiming, killing, gore and mayhem. It is not for the squeamish. However, if you really want a book that will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next (and maybe keep you up at night), this more than fits the bill Overall I would highly recommend this book and will actively seek out his future efforts. Enjoy!
Should be read once a year - no question about it!
