I ended up liking this book, but at the beginning I wasn't sure I would finish it. The beginning was very slow and I didn't understand how anything related to other things. I also didn't realize that the two stories were taking place in different times. I had to read the book description to understand parts of the story because they were never mentioned in the actual book. In the middle of the book I was very interested in Sophie's story, but I thought Emmy's story was a little boring. It also had a lot of loose ends. What was the point of having Arlen in the book at all? He wasn't important to the actual story. Also, Autumn was supposed to be a character we liked and we were supposed to be sad about her death, but it was so abrupt and it felt like she was dead before we even got to know her. Also, the ending was a little quick and I didn't feel like the story should have ended where it did. I think adding to Emmy's story to explain a little more would make the book much better. I would give this book 3/5 stars.
