Lauren Heller is attacked after she and her husband Roger were out to dinner. When she wakes up in the hospital she finds that Roger has disappeared. Nick Heller is Roger's brother and although he and Roger haven't spoken in years, he is fond of Lauren and her son, Gabe. When they ask for Nick's help, he agrees and finds that Roger works as the CFO of a corporation and investigates corruption. He's found something, according to Lauren and she thinks he may have been kidnapped. When Nick investigates, he finds there is a corporation similiar to Blackwater Corporation. They provide security and mercenaries in countries like Afghanistan and Iraque. They also offer briges to officials and sometimes kickbacks to government types in the USA. Nick continues to search and comes across military looking men who are intent to stop his investigation. There are a number of good action scenes with Nick overcoming these men to continue looking for Roger. He also learns some unexpected things about Roger's past and his relationship with his family. I was entertained and look forward to the next book with Nick Heller, he reminded me of Lee Child's protagonist, Jeak Reacher.
Wonderfully funny and charming.
This anthology gathers works from fifteen different categories, everything from epics to poems to the famous Anglo-Saxon riddles. Having it all in one compact volume makes this a useful addition to a classics library.
