An account of one of the deadliest summit to Everest. It's a tragedy, and you know how it ends, but somehow you're pulled into the story. I think everyone has that sense of adventure within them no matter how much of a city slicker they are, and this is a good place to start. Everyone should read at least one mountain expedition book or subscribe to Outside (free publicity).
Trans/notes/commentary by Allen Mandelbaum: Good notes, bilingual, inexpensive, great to carry, but very academic (more linguistically correct) but I think the least poetic (and this is a poem, and very inventive one) of the translations.
