This is the second book I have read by Connie Willis. I would definitely give this book 4*. I can not wait to read everything else she has written. This book is about 3 time travelers who each get stuck in a different aspect of the London Blitz during WWII. One is a shopgirl in London, one is a maid in a manor house were evacuated children were sent, and the last is a "reporter" who ends up on a boat evacuating soldiers from Dunkirk. THe book was a great mix of historical fiction, comedy and tragedy. I hope that some of the same "contemp" characters return in the sequel All Clear. I really want to find out what happens to Binnie and Alf and if Polly and Sir Godfrey ever deepen their relationship. The only thing that kept this from being a 5* read is that I got a little tired of the three time travelers rationalizing why they weren't stuck in time, as they clearly were. It got a little whiney. For anyone who hasn't yet read anything by Ms. Willis I say "What are you waiting for?"

This book was sent to me via FSB Media for a honest and fair review. This book definitely had you really hating the rain that kept falling as the bodies are piling up and you find yourself wanting to find this killer to give them a dose of reality. You find yourself bouncing between the detective and reporter. The only references to Beauty Killer Gretchen Lowell are memories Archie has from his time being tortured by her. Susan Ward has a close relationship with the cops in this local town, spending more time there then at her job. You also see the damage that can be brought on by a serial killer like Gretchen Lowell how she screwed up Archie's head. Definitely a great series, lots of action and thriller appeal. I will be looking for more by Ms. Cain her style of writing is great and easy flowing chapters.

Loved this book! When I read Courting Miss Lancaster, I really wondered about Adam and Persephone and was really excited to get their story. I'm so glad they republished it. :)

The dissection of a relationship as the two principles veer in diametrically opposed value systems is heart wrenching and lovely.

This book made me laugh out loud. Every part that involved the hellhounds was just too funny.
