Hysterical book of childhood memories of family vacations mixed with his current impressions of America. Having lived in England and raised a family there, his views on America are fresh. He travels from Iowa through the South to the East Coast and up through the Great Lakes. The second half of the book is on his travels West of the Mississippi. Not only is this a fun read but also may help when planning your own trip across the states.

Don't let the two stars fool you - this is a great book. I just didn't love the story...even though it was true, which is always an added bonus. I did put the book down having fallen in love with Lucy, which is a testament to Patchett's great writing ability.
