"People're a nestful of needs. Dull needs, sharp needs, bottomless-pit needs, flash-in-the-pan needs, needs for things you can't hold, needs for things you can. Adverts know this. Shops know this. Specially in arcades, shops're deafening. I've got what you want! I've got what you want! I've got what you want! I've got what you want! But walking down Regent's Arcade, I noticed a new kind of need that's normally so close up you never know it's there. You and your mum need to like each other. Not love, but like."

4.5 stars This is my first time reading anything by Andrea Speed, and what a little treat it was. This little goodie was quite a fun and entertaining read for me. I just love the world she’s created; Josh working the night shift at the Quick Mart with the Hell Vortex in the parking lot, catering to a clientele of monsters that step right on out… to buy junk food. Very original, well written, with great characters and quite humorous, she had me chuckling through the whole story. Chuckle worthy… “Thwak-thwak-thwak echoed in the shop as Lizard Guy waddle-stomped down the aisle, making a beeline for the Fritos display. It grabbed two bags and turned back, waddle-stomping to the register.” The only niggling I had was that I would have liked to see more of Josh and Hot Guy, it ended a little short for me. One more scene with those two and I’d have been pleased as pie. That being said, I thought it was a great start to the series I’m anxious see where the author goes with it. Can’t wait to get my hands on the next one. Highly Recommended Review posted on my blog
