Great book - I loved the story and the way the history was released, still was a page turner even though I knew how it would end. Beautifully written.

Clean and interesting. It's a good book, but it never really grabbed me like some books can. Mysterious time travel novel with some teenage romance (I'm afraid these parts were cheesy).

Once in a while I come across a book that is so good I don't know how to put it into words. The Goddess Test is definitely one of those books. It was absolutely incredible. From the first words on the first page I was hooked. The words just flowed throughout the entire thing and I was finished before I knew it! The story centers around Kate, a high school student whose mother is dying from cancer. They come from New York to Michigan because that is where her mother wants to spend her last days. All Kate wants to do is care for her mother. Once Kate starts school she instantly makes enemies with the popular girl Ava and, reluctantly, friends with the outcast James. When Ava tries to pull a prank on Kate, things go terribly wrong, and Kate and Ava's lives are changed forever. In order to save Ava, Kate has to make an agreement with Henry, a mysterious stranger who promises to bring Ava back to life. Kate reluctantly agrees and thinks that nothing will come of it. It eventually becomes clear to Kate that she will have to abide by her agreement. She will have to live 6 months of every year with Henry. First though, she has to pass seven tests, but she has no idea what they are and she will not know until she has either passed or failed them. There were so many shocking twists to the story that it kept me on the edge of my seat to find out just what was going to happen next. On top of the already creative and fantastic story line the characters were incredibly well written. I really loved Kate as a whole. The way that she cared for her mother felt so real and genuine. It was so painful at times feeling what Kate was going through knowing that she was going to lose her mother. I was instantly drawn into her character. The feelings she had about moving to a new place and going to a new school were easy for any teenager to relate to. Greek mythology has never been something that I really have had any interest in. This book changed that. It incorporates a lot of mythology into it and it I really enjoyed that aspect of it. The story is partially based on the story of Persephone and Hades, the god of the Underworld and his wife. It was all around fantastic and book 2, The Goddess, Interrupted is scheduled for release in 2012. I am counting down the days! If you haven't already, I suggest you hurry up and pre order this book NOW!

Clever follow up to book one. Wasn't as cute as first book but still a great use of your time.
