** spoiler alert ** This book was very creative and kept my interest. Many parts of the book were too violent for my taste. I was glad that is was more about survival rather than a face to face blood bath, as I had feared it would be. I also had a difficult time reading in the first person. Most of the books I read are not written in the first person. I was interested most in the love story. The first and second books developed it fairly well, but I was highly disappointed in the third book. Especially when the end was summed up in less than a page. It would have been better, in the final book, to spend a little more time finishing up the story rather than an abrupt and short end. The second book was my favorite. The first book I was distracted by the anticipated violence, which luckily wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be. The third book was the most violent, but it was about war. At times in each book, a sentence or two would sum up days, weeks or months. I would sometimes get lost when I was expecting more detail, but then suddenly the book jumped ahead. One part in the third book seemed like it was a pivotal point, then it jumped ahead several days with nothing happening. It is expected for previous books to have an abrupt end, leading the reader to anticipate the next book. But having little to no closure in the last book was a let down. It was a good read for one time, but I have no plans to read it over and over.
