The story/ characters did not draw me in, which is quite rare; as well as too many sexual references.

This is a great story that combines steamy romance, suspense, humor, with angels, demons, and second chances. The characters are intriguing and their stories are woven together cleverly. The plot development is well done and the ending sets you up for future books. Jim is a man with a dark past who gets a second chance at life by being offered the job of saving seven souls in which will in turn, save humanity. Devina is a woman who looks like she has it all: a handsome and rich boyfriend, gorgeous looks, and everything at her fingertips. So why does she seek out the attention of another man? And is this a woman to be trusted? With an engagement ring in his pocket, Vin is betrayed by the woman who he thinks he is in love with. But then he meets a beautiful young woman who is running from the past. Marie-Terese is a mother, ex-wife of a mobster, and a prostitute who is just trying to live life in the shadows to keep her and her son safe. She meets her savior in the form of a very wealthy man. But she is being stalked and people she has encountered are being murdered. These individuals will meet at a crossroads and what results is a battle between angels and demons. Six more souls will have to be saved so I'll be eagerly awaiting the next book. Be warned: in traditional J.R. Ward fashion, there is graphic sex and language in the book.

I know several people who read the book seemed to enjoy and particularly enjoyed the movie. I found the writing hard to follow, I wasn't sure what "a" stood far and didn't flow with the writing. Plus, the movie trailer showed humor and laughter, but I found the first part cruel. Particularly in how the mother treated her little girl she didn't want! Then again, maybe it's the time frame. A time I grew up in, have fond memories from. but now I'm suppose to hate. I guess I don't find much humor in that.
