Having grown up in small towns, I have an affinity for them. The descriptions and characters of small town life are fun to read and the descriptions of Italy are divine. Very Valentine flowed better, but Adriana Trigiani has a good voice and I enjoyed the book.

oh such beautiful essays and book reviews. i never knew. she DOES have occasional essays in NYRB (more more i need more here) but i don't recall any of these in this book here. her amazing sentences flow from a brilliant mind but still the reader is not cowed but wants to sit closer and listen to her harder. i am enthralled with zadie smith nonfiction, now onto fiction, "white teeth"?, "on beauty"? i will just pick one at random?
