I don't know. I hard a really hard time getting into this book. And, I didn't like Dylan all that much. I feel like everyone around me absolutely loved this book. I admire Letham's work enough to give it four stars. I usually reserve 5 stars for books to which I feel a strong personal connection. After talking with others about it, I've found that I was moved by the book. It bothered and provoked me ... which is a good thing, I'm thinking.

I loved this book. It was probably my first exposure to literature with such a latin american slant, and I found it fascinating. Part ghost story, part revolutionary tale, it was riveting and lovely. Highly recommended.
