TTBRMMWTRT. I've wanted to read Bolano for about 5 years, ever since my friend Jesse started telling me about him. Unfortunately, 5 years ago, none of his works were translated into English. Since 2003 there's been a trickle, but they've been hard to track down. Now there's a flood, so this should be easier.

Liked it, but was destined to get predictable.

I remember my friend said this was her favorite book. I was a little hesitant, considering she likes books like Anna Karenina. However, I was pleasantly surprised. This turned out to be one of my favorite books of all time. The story is simple enough: about a young girl growing up in a troubled family. But the way it is written is just captivating. Made me cry more than once I'm sure. I would compare the writing style to the book To Kill a Mockingbird.
