Have read mixed reviews about this but for me, it's a light hearted read, not to be taken seriously, a bit tongue in cheek. It has its humour and I am sure that the moral quandries that Isabel finds herself debating are a bit of harmless poking fun at philosopher types - not that I know any. Isabel comes across as a bit pompous at times, a bit of a snob but kind hearted enough and this makes for the humour in the book along with her observations of individuals and humanity as a whole. It made me laugh and was certainly enjoyable; an engaging, quick read.
